    The school of physical science and technology of Ningbo University traces back to Ningbo Normal University in 1958. From 1978 to 1986, the Department of physics of Ningbo normal college was merged with Ningbo University, Ningbo Normal University and Ningbo Branch of Zhejiang Fisheries University in 1996, then the Physics Department of Ningbo University in 2000, and then the physical science and Technology College of Ningbo University in 2018 After more than 60 years and generations of efforts, the college has developed into a physics department with a certain influence in China, covering physics, microelectronics, science education and other characteristic disciplines.

    The school of physical science and technology relies on the most important discipline in Zhejiang Province (2009), the first-class discipline in Zhejiang Province (Class A) (2016), the peak discipline of key construction University of Zhejiang Province (2016), the existing Doctor's degree programs in Physics,Master's degree programs in Physics (including theoretical physics, condensed matter physics, optics, solid state electronic physics and Optoelectronics) and the second level of quantum information and communication Doctor's point.

    The college consists of physics department and microelectronics science and engineering department. The undergraduate majors are physics (base class), microelectronic science and engineering, and science education. Microelectronics Science and engineering was selected as the new characteristic specialty of Zhejiang Province, the first-class specialty of Ningbo City, and physics was selected as the key specialty of Ningbo City. Zhejiang provincial key demonstration center of physics experiment teaching and Ningbo Key Laboratory of nano materials have been built. The total value of existing experimental instruments is more than 34 million yuan, including 7 sets of large-scale instruments over 1 million yuan and 21 sets of 400 thousand yuan.

    The college has a strong faculty with young and middle-aged backbone teachers as the main body, and the staff age, professional title and knowledge structure are reasonable. At present, there are 75 full-time teachers, including 29 senior high school teachers and 23 deputy senior high school teachers. Among them, 75 have doctoral degree, 1 national special support program for high-level talents, 1 winner of the national outstanding youth fund, 1 young and middle-aged expert with outstanding contribution from the state, 1 outstanding talent support program of the Ministry of education, 3 provincial and municipal distinguished professors, and 2 first-level talents cultivation of 151 talent project in Zhejiang Province People. There are Ningbo nonlinear science innovation team, Ningbo nonlinear ocean and atmospheric Disaster System Collaborative Innovation Center, and participated in the provincial and ministerial joint construction of Ningbo new functional materials and preparation science state key laboratory cultivation base, Zhejiang Province first batch of innovation team nano materials team.

    In the past 10 years, the college has undertaken 3 key projects of NSFC, 1 key project of international cooperation, more than 80 NSFC projects, and more than 40 provincial and ministerial level projects such as Zhejiang Natural Science Foundation. The total longitudinal research funding has exceeded 100 million yuan.
