报告摘要：The study of extreme wave events on the ocean is a rapidly expanding area of research worldwide. Although much work in this area is based on modeling and experiments in controlled wave tanks, the starting point of all studies is of course observation in the natural world. During this talk, we will provide some evidence of extreme wave events and describe the main mechanisms for their generation.
报告人简介：Frederic Dias, 法国卡尚高等师范学校，爱尔兰都柏林大学教授，国际著名水波领域方面专家，Eurogia 技术委员会的成员，des Treilles基金会的科学委员会的成员，国际理论与应用力学协会秘书长，欧洲力学B/流体杂志主编等。其研究工作：Extreme waves: from physics to forecasting 获得了 La Recherches Price等，曾先后被邀请为 《Handbook of Mathematical Fluid Dynamics》on water waves as a dynamical system 和 《Physics Reports》 on one-dimensional wave turbulence等撰写综述性论文。
